Q: My son takes Adderall for ADHD, what types of over the counter medicines can i give for a common cold/flu type symptoms that won’t interfere with his adderall. I was told some ingredients will make the heart race.
A: This is a question for a psychiatrist not a psychologist. Psychologists do not prescribe medication.
Psychiatrists have M.D degrees and have done a residency in the specialty of psychiatry. Whereas, psychologists have Ph.D. Degrees which entail 3-4 years of study post BA or BS college diplomas at university plus a two year internship and a dissertation in a chosen specialty. Some states allow psychologists to prescribe medication but most don’t.
