Susan S. Woods, Ph.D.question and answer with Dr. Susan S. Woods

Q: I have problems with anxiety. Sometimes my hearts starts to flutter and seems to beat irregularly for no reason. Is this part of the anxiety or should I see a doctor t have it checked out?

A: If you are experiencing classic symptoms of panic attacks and you worry that they indicate a medical problem, it is always best to see your doctor with these concerns before assuming that they are psychosomatic.Once you get checked out by your doctor and are given a clean bill of health, finding a therapist would be the next step.

There are therapeutic techniques that you can learn that will help you manage you anxiety and prevent panic attacks.
